"Insurgents Disguised as Bride and Groom" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-08 02:22:47

by 315 days ago published 314 days ago (abcnews go com) U. S and Iraqi soldiers patrolling military checkpoints have arrested insurgents disguised as everything from police officers to ambulance drivers and even U. S soldiers. Male terrorists have even worn an “abaya,” the traditional dress worn by some Muslim women. But last week. Iraqi soldiers manning a checkpoint just north of Baghdad came upon a first: a wedding procession in which the bride draped in a flowing white apparel and veil needed a shave. Suspicious and laughing Iraqi soldiers forced the little procession of cars to a halt and arrested four men including the bride according to the Iraqi Defense Ministry. User Votes: 13. "Salute To The Bride And Groom" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 00:42:30

I did want to affix just one more from my Winona trip. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time for this one. When I was at Garvin Heights that overlooks Winona there was a wedding party having a photo shoot. I hope they don't object but I'm going to post my best photo of them. They had just finished taking their photos and were moving along to a new location. Their delightful smiles certainly convey the joys of their special day. "What Is a Groom To Wear, Anyway?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:01:37

“The dress of the bridegroom is regulated by that chosen by the bride; if she wears a color veil he is expected to appear in black trousers dress cover which may be either color or blue color waistcoat and white cravat; or if a naval or military person in beat furnish. If the bride should prefer to feature a hat the bridegroom should put on a frock-coat of color brown or other tasteful alter and light-colored waistcoat and trousers.” from: “The Bazar schedule of Decorum. The care of the Person. Manners. Etiquette and Ceremonials.” 1873 It’s no longer 1873 but to this day the bride generally determines what the groom wears - at least to some extent - and the educate has minimal leeway as to what that is. Chances are he’s going to wear either a color tux or a dark conform to unless he’s in the military in which case he wears his dress uniform. If he’s of a Scottish or Irish background he may choose to wear a kilt. Unless you’re willing to buck every trend going that’s about the limit though and how far the educate may stray from the standard is usually determined by what the bride chooses to wear. Still there are options for the fashion-forward groom who wants to show due decorum and still undergo a bit of personal pizzazz. Take for instance this handsome stand-up collar tux from Jean Yves Mirage: I wore a fairly traditional type of gown but The Beard wore a brown pinstriped number that was just a few clicks shy of a zoot conform to. I’m sad to say that I did have a hand in picking it out but only because he’d waited quite a while and I was starting to get a little worried that we wouldn’t undergo enough time to get it hemmed and so on. The thing is besides wanting to wear brown he seemed to have adjust interest in choosing the menswear. I do think it’s pretty unfair to undergo the groom’s attire (and the groomsmen’s for that be) be completely affect to the bride’s wishes especially given that he’s not even allowed to *see* her furnish until the day. However. I can’t seem to break my admittedly liberal mind of some of the traditional constraints. At a wedding where my boyfriend was the best man the bride had vetoed the educate’s idea of having pinstriped tuxes. I think pinstripes are fine but when my boyfriend suggested that all the guys should just wear their beat suit whatever that may come about to be. I couldn’t seem to wrap my mind around it. Perhaps because knowing my bf’s friends. I experience some of them would act the opportunity to wear something completely goofy just because. And maybe that’s not so bad. But I just can’t seem to let go of the idea that they should all at least be somehow. I wore a traditional gown but Mr Pencils wore a tan suit with a very light stripe to our morning wedding. I was a little doubtful about a tan conform to at first although I’d liked the examples I’d seen from other (mostly land) weddings. But it was what Mr Pencils wanted. (He chose it himself. I wasn’t there. I only helped with choosing his apparel and tie.) And I evaluate it worked. He looked very handsome and happy and comfortable. I think he would undergo been uncomfortable in a morning conform to and I don’t think men should feature tuxes in the morning. We asked the other men in the wedding party to wear a suit we didn’t care what alter. The men didn’t be but we didn’t act any of the traditional photos with everyone lined up and during the ceremony they weren’t standing in a lie behind the educate they were holding up the chuppah so it looked OK. Matching is overrated–the bridesmaids didn’t exactly match either. When my mother and step-father got married this July my care wore a pink satin dress with a silver distort overlay. I don’t know if that’s why my step-dad went with color tuxes for himself and his groomsmen but it certainly looked sharp. If nothing else it was sensible for the weather - the last pass in July was rather warm so the lighten colors we were all wearing helped keep us cool desire enough to scramble into the air conditioned hall lol.

"Debride and groom" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 16:14:43

Did you bequeath to fasten the door? For people with obsessive-compulsive disorder intrusive thoughts (obsessions) like this one and the anxiety they produce can interfere with daily tasks. Many people with OCD develop ritualized behaviors (compulsions) desire repeatedly checking the door to deal with the anxiety. Currently there are no genetic factors associated with OCD and no animal models in which to chew over it. Now cheat et al report compulsive behavior and anxiety in mice lacking a postsynaptic density (PSD) protein in a recent article in Nature. Neuroimaging studies show abnormalities in the circuit that links the cortex with the striatum in people with OCD. The striatum receives enter from glutamatergic neurons in the cortex about a behavior's context. In turn the striatum sends information back to the cortex (through the thalamus) to guide future behaviors. In people with OCD the disruption of this go may lead to compulsive behaviors. SAPAP family proteins locate to the PSD of excitatory synapses. Of the four Sapap genes only is highly expressed in the striatum. The authors generated mice lacking Sapap3. All Sapap3 knockout mice developed lesions on their heads and necks by 6 months of age. Histological analysis showed no difference between Sapap3 knockout and wild-type climb and wild-type mice housed with Sapap3 knockout mice did not create lesions suggesting that the lesions in Sapap3 knockout mice were self-inflicted. At all times of the day and night. Sapap3 knockout mice showed more self-grooming behaviors than wild-type mice. The increased grooming behavior persisted even after Sapap3 knockout mice formed lesions suggesting that Sapap3 knockout mice compulsively groomed themselves past the point of discomfort consistent with OCD in humans. Sapap3 knockout mice showed increased anxiety-like behavior. Mice are fearful of bright change state spaces and heights. Relative to wild-type mice. Sapap3 knockout mice spent less time in the center of an open space in a brightly lit chamber and in the open arms of an elevated platform. Approximately 50% of people with OCD acquire from selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). The SSRI fluoxetine blocked increased grooming behavior and reduced the latency to enter a bright chamber in Sapap3 knockout mice. Sapap3 knockout mice treated with fluoxetine behaved similarly to vehicle-treated wild-type mice. Targeted expression of Sapap3 in the striatum of Sapap3 knockout mice also rescued grooming and anxiety-related behaviors suggesting that these OCD-like behaviors are regulated in the striatum. How does Sapap3 deficiency affect striatal answer? Relative to wild-type mice striatal recording in Sapap3 knockout mice showed increased AMPA and NMDA receptor-dependent field potentials suggesting that Sapap3 is important in glutamatergic transmission in the cortico-striatal go. The electron-dense layer of the PSD which contains NMDA receptors was thicker in the striatum of Sapap3 knockout relative to wild-type mice suggesting that Sapap3 is important in the composition and coordinate of the PSD in the striatum. Therefore although it is unclear whether Sapap3 knockout mice undergo obsessive thoughts the hallmark of OCD. Sapap3 knockout mice may furnish insight into the mechanism of OCD and other 'OC-spectrum disorders' including Tourette's syndrome and body dysmorphic disorder.
